Brightlingsea school building work progresses
September was a busy month for the Brightlingsea School in Ghana – even though the school has been closed for a few months – while we build an additional four classrooms. As soon as the children get back to school we will update all our sponsors with news of the children.
Building progress has been slower than we expected but we are pleased that the final stages are taking place and the building is undergoing its final inspections.
While work is going on in Ghana lots of volunteers are working hard in Brightlingsea ahead of our Summer Fete in Brightlingsea in aid of the Brightlingsea School. Porridge and Pens will be hosting traditional games, music, food, drinks and entertainment from 12 noon till 7pm! It’s a day of fun for all the family and everyone is welcome!
In other exciting news, two residents of Brightlingsea will be heading out to Ghana in October to run the Ghana Half Marathon. Vandi Rathbone and Gregg Weaver have been training hard and have so far raised over £3000 to support Porridge and Pens. Gregg achieved an excellent result at the Jog, Walk, Run organised by Brightlingsea Rotary Club on the 10th September. The only difference will be the heat when he is completing the half marathon in Ghana!
We will update everyone as soon as the school reopens and things start to settle down with the new term. No doubt it will be as busy and chaotic as ever.
